  • Marriage: August 10, 1986 to Victoria Palomar; two sons.
  • Citizenship: Spanish
  • Academic position: Catedrático (Full Professor) at the University of Granada, since January 2007

Administrative Experience

 

  • President of the Experimental Sciences Committee of the PEP program of the Spanish Agency for Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA), since January 2016.
  • Vice-president of the European Mineralogical Unión (EMU) from April 2009 to September 2016.
  • Vice-Director of the Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra (I.A.C.T.). From July 1995 to December 1998, and from February 2005 to April 2007.
  • Secretary of the Departament of Mineralogy and Petrology of the University of Granada. From June 1990 to July 1995.

  • Metallogeny of mafic and ultramafic rocks: Podiform chromite deposits and Ni-Cu deposits
  • Mineralogy and mineral deposits of platinum-group elements
  • Mineralogy of Ni-Co arsenides and sulfarsenides in five elements, vein-type deposits

 

Professional/Research Experience

 

  • Participation in 56 research projects financed by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Science and Technology, the EU and the UNESCO. Amongst them, I have leaded 13 projects.
  • 185 publications, including 107 research papers (83 of them published in international journals included in the Journal of Citation Reports; H=23), 5 books, 11 book chapters, 53 extended abstracts, 4 journal special issues and books edited and 5 field-trip guide books. 229 abstracts and extended abstracts presented in scientific meetings.
  • Associated Editor of Mineralogy and Petrology (Springer Verlag), since 2013
  • Regular reviewer of projects since 1995 for: the Spanish Agency for Evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education and Science.
